How many hours is reasonable on a used concrete pump truck?

Hours, pumped volume and mileage tell different stories. Here is how we read them together.

The hour meter on a pump truck counts engine hours, not pumping hours. A machine that drove a lot between short jobs shows high hours and low pumped volume; a machine that stood on large pours shows the opposite. Neither number alone tells you how worn the pumping unit is.

Pumped volume is the number that wears the S-valve, spectacle plate, cutting ring, pistons and delivery cylinders. Wear parts are rated in cubic metres, so a pump with 50 000 m³ on new cylinders is in better shape than one with 20 000 m³ on cylinders that were never changed.

As a rule of thumb for Chinese-built pumps of 2018 and later, we consider under 3 000 hours and under 80 000 m³ light use, 3 000 to 6 000 hours moderate, and above 6 000 hours a machine that needs a full look at the pumping unit and boom pins before you price it.

On every listing we photograph the hour meter, the odometer and the pump controller page on a stated date, so you can compare the three readings yourself. If a reading is pending, the listing says so.
